The Lightkeeper Is Gone is a retro-stylized slow-burn horror adventure centered around a lighthouse keeper's mysterious disappearance

Working on a lighthouse far away from civilization is a demanding job that takes a resilient spirit and iron discipline. The L—— Isle has only seen two keepers to date—and while the first managed well enough, the recent hire has turned out to be more of a nuisance. Their departure has left the light dark; someone must take their place. Will you?

Discover the previous keeper's story piece by piece

You're given an explanation, but it seems underwhelming. Seek out clues, but be careful—not everything is as it seems

Look after the lighthouse

You've taken on a grave responsibility, and failing your duties will have consequences. The light must be started every evening—and make sure the lens stays clean

Take in the atmosphere

Such a life is not for everyone, but you don't need anyone except for yourself. You will be given a lot of time to reflect upon your actions here.

a super interesting take on the genre, which made me reminisce back to the movie, The Lighthouse, by Robert Eggers - great stuff, so much so that we've featured it in our Best Horror Games on Itch.io piece!

Thanks a lot!

Hello Zarya Games! Really like the style of your games looks very interesting! I'd love to collaborate with you. I can cover all your sound needs from music to SFX, let me know if you are interested. Good luck! :)

Game and pacing is pretty good. I also like how you started the buildup on the first night as well as the unexpected reveal. Keep it up.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. https://www.youtube.com/@Levont

Awesome! Thanks for playing!

How uh... how do you get out of the boat? I've clicked everything, I've pressed every button on my keyboard, I've tried beaching it, I'm out of ideas.

Really enjoying the demo otherwise!

The intended way to get out of the boat is pressing Shift near ground. I did remove the boat's collision for the current demo build I'm releasing soon though, as it does not serve a purpose yet... Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

this was a super fun and scary game i cant wait for the full release! it left me still wondering why is the lightkeeper gone.

I am glad you enjoyed it!

I don't know if the fishing is broken or not, I hit Left click on the fish spawn - left click just 'Casts the rod' in an animation with no string or bob/bait, I don't see any indication of placing bait on the fishing rod in any way, and no matter how long I wait, nothing 'bites' or shows me that the fishing is even working and I gave up at that point. I got on the boat, tried fishing on the dock but 'no fish' ever bit and the instructions mentioned something about 'LMB to hang the lore on the hook, and press again to Cast the fishing rod' - but LMB only ever Casts the rod or Retracts the rod - I don't think I've ever seen my character 'Hang the lure on the hook' once???? Broken??? Was I somehow doing something wrong? No idea.

Hello!

Yes, it was broken, because I had the outdated version of the demo on Itch. Sorry! I've changed the file to the version where this issue should be fixed.
